There is no supernatural, says the yogi, but there are in nature gross manifestations and subtle manifestations. The subtle are the causes, the gross the effects. The gross can be easily perceived by the senses; not so the subtle. The practice of Raja Yoga will lead to the acquisition of the more subtle perceptions.

The very soul of the Asian is interwoven with art. The Asian never uses a thing unless there be art in it. Don't you know that art is, with us, a part of religion? Shivananda: What is Western music like?

Vivekananda: Oh, it is very good. There is in it a perfection of harmony, which we have not attained. Only, to our untrained ears, it does not sound well, hence we do not like it, and think that the singers howl like jackals. I also had the same sort of impression, but when I began to listen to the music with attention and study it minutely, I came more and more to understand it, and I was lost in admiration. Such is the case with every art. In glancing at a highly finished painting we cannot understand where its beauty lies. Moreover, unless the eye is, to a certain extent, trained, one cannot appreciate the subtle touches and blendings, the inner genius of a work of art.

Vivekananda: You see, I love our Muslims.

Nivedita: Yes, but what I want to understand is this habit of seeing every people from their strongest aspect. Where did it come from? Do you recognize it in any historical character? Or is it in some way derived from Sri Ramakrishna?

Vivekananda: It must have been the training under Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. We all went by his path to some extent. Of course it was not so difficult for us as he made it for himself. He would eat and dress like the people he wanted to understand, take their initiation and use their language. "One must learn," he said, "to put oneself into another man's very soul." And this method was his own! No one ever before in India became a Christian and Muslim and Vaishnava, by turn!

The Light Divine within is obscured in most people. It is like a lamp in a cask of iron, no gleam of light can shine through. Gradually, by purity and unselfishness we can make the obscuring medium less and less dense, until at last it becomes as transparent as glass.

Sri Ramakrishna was like the iron cask transformed into a glass cask through which can be seen the inner light as it is. We are all on the way to become the cask of glass and even higher and higher reflections. As long as there is a "cask" at all, we must think through material means. No impatient person can never succeed.

These are the three stages which every religion has taken. First we see God in the far beyond, then we come nearer to him and give him omnipresence so that we live in him; and at last we recognize that we are he.

The highest kind of teachers silently collect true and noble ideas, and others--the Buddhas and Christs--go from place to place preaching them and working for them. In the life of Gautama Buddha we notice him constantly saying that he is the twenty-fifth Buddha. The twenty-four before him are unknown to history, although the Buddha known to history must have built upon foundations laid by them.

You are good and noble. Instead of materializing the spirit, that is, dragging the spiritual to the material plane, convert the matter into spirit, catch a glimpse at least, every day, of that world of infinite beauty and peace and purity--the spiritual, and try to live in it day and night.

If I am in a dark room, no amount of protestation will make it any brighter--I must light a match. Just so, no amount of grumbling and wailing will make our imperfect body more perfect. But Vedanta teaches us--call forth your soul, show your divinity. Teach your children that they are divine, that religion is a positive something and not a negative nonsense. Teach them that religion is not subjection to groans when under suppression, but expansion and manifestation.

The idea of an objective God is not untrue--in fact, every idea of God, and hence every religion, is true, as each is but a different stage in the journey, the aim of which is the perfect conception of the Vedas. Hence, too, Hindus not only tolerate but accept every religion, praying in the mosques of the Muslims, worshiping before the fire of the Zoroastrians, and kneeling before the cross of the Christians, knowing that all the religions, from the lowest fetishism to the highest absolutism, mean so many attempts of the human soul to grasp and realize the infinite, each determined by the conditions of its birth and association, and each of them marking a stage of progress. We gather all these flowers and bind them with the twine of love, making a wonderful bouquet of worship.

Classification or regrouping of phenomena by their similarities is the first step in scientific knowledge--perhaps it is all. An organized grouping, revealing to us a similarity running through the whole group, and a conviction that under similar circumstances the group will arrange itself in the same form--stretched over all time, past, present and future--is what we call law.

Each thought is a little hammer blow on the lump of iron which our bodies are, manufacturing out of it what we want to be. We are heirs to all the good thoughts of the universe, if we open ourselves to them.

All the difference that you see between a bhakta and a jnani is in the preparatory stage: the bhakta sees God outside and the jnani sees God within. Sri Ramakrishna used to say that there is a higher stage, which is called supreme bhakti (parabhakti), in which the bhakta loves God after becoming established in the nondual consciousness and attaining spiritual freedom (mukti). This may seem paradoxical, ... but the free person is beyond all law, and hence no question can be asked regarding such a person. Even after becoming free, out of their own free will, some retain bhakti to taste of its sweetness.

The bhakti-scriptures mention five different kinds of relationships, through any of which one can attain God. But another kind of relationship can also be added to them, viz. the relationship of oneness with God, which is attained through the path of meditation on the non-separateness from God. Thus even the nondualists can be called bhaktas, but of the non-differentiating type.

A current rushing down of its own nature falls into a hollow and makes a whirlpool and, after running a little in that whirlpool, it emerges again in the form of the free current to go on unchecked. Each human life is like that current. It gets into the whirl, gets involved in this world of space, time and causation, whirls round a little, crying out, "my father, my brother, my name, my fame," and so on, and at last emerges out of it and regains its original freedom. The whole universe is doing that.

Whether we know it or not, whether we are conscious or unconscious of it, we are all working to get out of the dream of the world. Our experience in the world is to enable us to get out of its whirlpool.

ઈશ્વર સાથે ચેટિંગ

એક વખત હું મારા લૅપટૉપ પર ચેટિંગ કરતો હતો. ત્યાં મને ઈશ્વરનો ઓનલાઈન ભેટો થઈ ગયો.

ઈશ્વર : ‘શું તું મારી સાથે ચેટિંગ કરવા માંગે છે ?’


હું : ‘ના, મેં તમને બોલાવ્યા નથી. તમે કોણ છો ?’


ઈશ્વર : ‘વત્સ ! હું આ સમસ્ત બ્રહ્માંડનો અને આ સૃષ્ટિનો સર્જક છું….ઈશ્વર છું.’


હું : ‘હું કેવી રીતે માનું કે તમે ઈશ્વર છો ? તમારા જેવા તો ઘણા પોતાની જાતને અહીં ‘ભગવાન’ કહેવડાવે છે.’


ઈશ્વર : ‘માનવું કે ન માનવું એ તારી મરજીની વાત છે. મને તેનાથી કોઈ ફરક નથી પડતો. તને જો તારી જાતમાં વિશ્વાસ ન હોય તો પછી મારામાં ક્યાંથી હોય ?’


હું : ‘ઓ.કે. પરંતુ હું અત્યારે નવરો નથી. તમારી સાથે વાત કરવાનો મને સમય નથી. તમે જાણો છો કે હું કેટલો વ્યસ્ત છું ?


ઈશ્વર : ‘વ્યસ્ત તો કીડી મંકોડા પણ આખો દિવસ હોય છે !’


હું : ‘તમને ખબર નથી કે અમારે કેટલું કામ હોય છે. જિંદગી કેટલી ઝડપી થઈ ગઈ છે. અત્યારે ‘પીક અવર્સ’ ચાલે છે.

ઈશ્વર : ‘ભાઈ, સવારના પહોરમાં તું છાપાઓમાં ભરેલો દુનિયાભરનો કચરો મગજમાં ઠાલવે છે. એટલું ઓછું હોય તેમ, અત્યારે તારા ‘પીક અવર્સ’માં ઈન્ટરનેટથી બીજા વધારે કચરાનો ઉમેરો કરે છે. આને તું વ્યસ્તતા કહે છે ? તને તારા માટે ફુરસદ ન હોય તો મારા માટે તો ક્યાંથી હોય ? પણ મને થયું ચાલ, ઈન્ટરનેટ પર તો તું ચોક્કસ મળી જ જઈશ અને તને એ વધુ અનુકૂળ પડશે; જેમ તું તારા પુત્રોને મોબાઈલ પર જ મળી લે છે ને તેમ !’


હું : ‘જો તમે ખરેખર ઈશ્વર હોવ તો મને જવાબ આપો કે જિંદગી આટલી બધી ગુંચવણભરી કેમ બની ગઈ છે ?’


ઈશ્વર : ‘જિંદગીનું બહુ પિષ્ટપેષણ કરવું સારું નહિ. અતિશય ઉપભોક્તાવાદ અને આડેધડની તૃષ્ણાઓ ઓછી કરીને સહજ રીતે જીવ, બેટા !’


હું : ‘તમને ખબર છે કે અમારું જીવનધોરણ કેટલું ઊંચું થઈ ગયું છે ?’


ઈશ્વર : ‘હા, ફક્ત તારું જીવનધોરણ જ ઊંચું ગયું છે, જીવન ઊંચું નથી ગયું… એ જ તો તકલીફ છે ને !’


હું :‘તો શું અમારે પાછા જવું ? પાછા ફરવું તો અમારે માટે શક્ય જ નથી.’


ઈશ્વર : ‘મેં તને પાછા ફરવાનું કહ્યું નથી, પરંતુ ધારે તો તું નવેસરથી શરૂઆત તો કરી શકે ને ? ટેકનોલૉજીએ ઊભા કરેલા તારા પ્રશ્નોને દૂર કરવા માટે તારે જ કોઈ નવી ટેકનોલોજી વિકસાવવી પડશે !’


હું : ‘અમે કાયમ ઉદાસ, નિસ્તેજ અને દુ:ખી કેમ હોઈએ છીએ ?’


ઈશ્વર : ‘હરીફાઈમાં સતત આગળ નીકળવા તેં તારી જાતને ‘ઉંદરદોડ’માં મૂકી દીધી છે. પહેલાં તું સફળતા માટે દોડતો હતો, હવે તું સફળતા ટકાવી રાખવા દોડે છે ! આમ, તારા માટે દોડાદોડ કરવા સિવાય કશું જ બચ્યું નથી. તું હવે તો ખડખડાટ હસવાનું પણ ભૂલી ગયો છે. સતત ચિંતા કરવી અને અસલામતીનો ભય રાખવો એ જ હવે તારો સ્વભાવ થઈ ગયો છે. તો પછી ઉદાસ ને દુ:ખી જ રહેવાય ને ?’


હું : ‘પણ તમને ખબર છે કે અમે સતત લટકતી તલવાર નીચે કામ કરતાં હોઈએ છીએ. અમારે અમારા ટારગેટ સમયસર પૂરા કરવાના હોય છે અને બીજી બાજુ મકાનના હપ્તાં, બાળકોની ફી ભરવાની હોય છે. કોઈક વાર તો ગાડીના હપ્તાં ભરવાના પણ બાકી રહી જાય છે. તો પછી ચિંતા કેમ ન થાય ? ભાવિ બધું જ અનિશ્ચિત દેખાય છે.’


ઈશ્વર : ‘એ તો ભાઈ જો, જગતમાં મૃત્યુ સિવાય બધું જ અનિશ્ચિત છે. કેટલી બાબતોની ચિંતા કર્યા કરીશ ? ચિંતા કરવી કે નહીં એ તારા હાથની વાત છે.’


હું : ‘પણ એ દરેક અનિશ્ચિતતા સાથે દર્દ, પીડા અને પરેશાની જોડાયેલી હોય છે,એનું શું ?’



ઈશ્વર : ‘વ્હાલા દીકરા ! મેં તારું સર્જન તને પીડા કે દુ:ખી કરવા નથી કર્યું. જો એવું હોત તો મેં તારા જન્મ પહેલાં તારા દૂધની વ્યવસ્થા ન કરી હોત. જિંદગી દુ:ખી થવા માટે નથી. આ બધી પીડા તો તેં તારી જાતે જ ઊભી કરેલી છે. દુનિયાની દોડમાં તું બરાબર ફસાયો છે. કાદવમાં ફસાયેલો માણસ કાદવમાં વધારે ઊંડો ઊતરતો જાય એવું છે ! તેં વાઘ પર સવારી માંડી છે અને હવે તું ગભરાય છે કે વાઘ મને ફાડી ખાશે !


હું : ‘પ્રભુ ! ખરૂં પૂછો તો આટલી બધી પીડાઓ, મુશ્કેલીઓ વચ્ચે અમે કઈ રીતે જીવીએ છીએ એ જ ખબર નથી પડતી.’


ઈશ્વર : ‘તું સતત બહાર ભટકીને ખરેખર થાકી ગયો છે. જરાક તારી અંદર ખોજ કર. થોડું આત્મદર્શન કર. એમ કરીશ તો તને ખબર પડશે કે તું ક્યાં જઈ રહ્યો છે.’


હું : ‘તમે તો ઈશ્વર છો, તો મને કપરા સંજોગો અને મુશ્કેલીના સમયમાં ટકવાની ચાવી બતાવો ને !’


ઈશ્વર : ‘તારામાં પણ અપાર શક્તિ છે.એને ઓળખવાની કોશિશ કર. મુશ્કેલીઓનો સામનો કરવાનો એ જ ઉપાય છે. થોડી ધીરજ, હિંમત, વિશ્વાસ અને ઉત્સાહ રાખ. કપરાં સંજોગો પણ કાયમ કપરાં રહેતાં નથી, એ પણ વહી જવાના છે.’


હું : ‘ચલો, એ તો બરાબર. પણ મને એ પ્રશ્ન થાય છે કે દુનિયામાં લોકો આટલા બધા સ્વાર્થી કેમ થઈ ગયા છે ?’


ઈશ્વર : ‘લોકો જેવા છે તેવા સ્વીકારી લે. બીજાને બદલવાનો મિથ્યા પ્રયાસ ન કરીશ. તારી જાતને ઓળખીને તેને બદલવા કોશિશ કર.’



હું : ‘એ તો હું સમજ્યો પણ મને એ નથી સમજાતું કે દુનિયામાં સારા માણસોને જ કેમ સહન કરવું પડે છે ?’


ઈશ્વર : ‘બેટા, સારા માણસોની જ કસોટી થાય છે. સોનું કસોટીમાંથી શુદ્ધ થઈને બહાર આવે છે. એ રીતે પ્રશ્નો, મુશ્કેલીઓ હકીકતે આંતરિક શક્તિ અને સહનશીલતા વધારે છે.’


હું : ‘તમે હાલની માનવજાત માટે શું માનો છો ?’


ઈશ્વર : ‘એ જ કે, પૈસા મેળવવા માટે સ્વાસ્થ્ય ગુમાવે છે અને પછી સ્વાસ્થ મેળવવા પૈસા ગુમાવે છે ! અર્થાત પૈસાનું પાણી કરે છે ! બાળપણમાં કંટાળો અનુભવે છે અને ઘડપણમાં બાળપણ ખોળે છે. યુવાનીમાં તો એ રીતે જીવે છે જાણે કે કદી મૃત્યુ આવવાનું જ નથી ! જ્યારે કોઈ મુશ્કેલી આવે છે ત્યારે કહે છે ‘મને એકલાને જ આવું કેમ ?’ બાકી ક્યારેય સુખમાં ‘હું એકલો કેમ ?’ એવો પ્રશ્ન એને નથી થતો.


હું : ‘પ્રભુ, તમે જિંદગીને ઉત્તમતાથી માણવાનું રહસ્ય મને કહો.’


ઈશ્વર : ‘તનેહંમેશા સામે કિનારે જ સુખ દેખાય છે. તારી પાસે જે કંઈ છે, જેટલું છે એને ભોગવ. જે નથી એની ચિંતા ના કરીશ. સતત ફરિયાદ અને સરખામણી ન કરીશ. સતત સરખામણી કરીને તેં તારા ઘરમાં પણ આગ લગાડી છે. ભૂતકાળને ભૂલીને વર્તમાનને વિશ્વાસથી વધાવતાં ભવિષ્ય માટે તૈયાર રહે. નફરત અને નકારાત્મક વિચારો છોડી દે નહીં તો એ વધુ જોરથી તારી પાસે આવશે. બીજાને પ્રેમ કર તો આપોઆપ લોકો તને પ્રેમ કરશે. થોડુંક્ષમા આપવાનું પણ રાખ.’


હું : ‘મારો એક છેલ્લો સવાલ એ છે કે મારી પ્રાર્થનાઓ કોઈ દિવસ તમને સંભળાય છે ખરી ?’



ઈશ્વર : ‘બધી જ સંભળાય છે પરંતુ જવાબ આપવાની મારી રીત જુદી હોય છે. મારા જવાબો ભવ્ય પર્વતો, ઝરણાં, નદીઓ, સમુદ્રો અને વૃક્ષોની વનરાજીમાં છે. ભવ્ય સૂર્યોદય અને સૂર્યાસ્તમાં છે. દરરોજ એક સુંદર પ્રભાત થાય છે – આ બધા મારા જવાબો છે. પરંતુ તને તે જોવાની ફુરસદ જ ક્યાં છે ? ચાંદની રાતે કોઈકવાર ખુલ્લા આકાશ સામે શાંતચિત્તે થોડો સમય બેસીને મંદ મંદ વહેતા પવનની લહેરો કે તમરાનું મધુર સંગીત માણ્યું છે ? એ માણતાં શીખીશ તો તને મારા જવાબો મળી જશે.



હું : ‘આપને મળીને ખૂબ સારું લાગ્યું. આ વાર્તાલાપ માટે આપનો ખૂબ ખૂબ આભાર. મારા માટે કોઈ સંદેશ છે ?’


ઈશ્વર : ‘વત્સ ! મારામાં શ્રદ્ધા રાખ. હું તને આ સંસારના બધા ભયોમાંથી મુક્ત કરી દઈશ. જિંદગી એક રહસ્ય છે પણ કોયડો નથી. મને યાદ કરજે, મારામાં નિષ્ઠા રાખજે. કદીયે હતાશ થઈશ નહીં. તું હાંક મારજે, હું અચૂક હાજર થઈ જઈશ કારણ કે તું મારું સર્વશ્રેષ્ઠ સર્જન છે. તું મને વ્હાલો છે.’

It is a most difficult thing to give up is the clinging to this universe; few ever attain to that. There are two ways to do that: one way is called neti neti ("not this, not this"), the other is called iti iti ("this, this"). The former is the negative, the latter is the positive way.

The negative way is the most difficult. It is only possible to people of the very highest, exceptional minds and gigantic wills who simply stand up and say, "No, I will not have this," and the mind and body obey their will, and they come out successful. But such people are rare.

 

The vast majority choose the positive way, the way through the world, making use of all the bondages themselves to break those very bondages. This is also a kind of giving up; only it is done slowly and gradually, by knowing things, enjoying things and thus obtaining experience, and knowing the nature of things until the mind lets them all go at last and becomes unattached.

The former way of obtaining non-attachment is by reasoning, and the latter way is through work and experience. The first is the path of Jñāna Yoga, the second is that of Karma Yoga.

સાચવવા પડે એ સંબંધો કદી સાચા નથી હોતા,
અને જો સંબંધો સાચા હોય તો એને સાચવવા નથી પડતા

વ્યવહાર નથી બદલાતા સંજોગો બદલાય છે,માણસ નથી બદલાતા ખાલી તેમના અભિગમ બદલાય છે

જીવન માં એટલી બધી ભૂલો ના કરવી કે પેન્સિલ પેહલા જ રબર ઘસાઈ જાય !
જીવન માં ફક્ત એક સારી વ્યક્તિ નો સાથ હોય તો આખી જિંદગી જીવી શકાય છે,
પણ ક્યારેક ફક્ત એ એક સારી વ્યક્તિ ની શોધ માં આખી જિંદગી વીતી જાય છે.
દરેક માણસ પાસે એક એવું મોટું કબ્રસ્તાન હોવું જોઇએ, કે જેમાં એ પોતાના
મિત્રોના દોષો દફનાવી શકે
મિત્ર એ એવી વ્યક્તિ છે કે જે તમારા હ્દય મા ગુંજ્તા ગીત ને જાણે છે
અને એ જ ગીત ને યાદ કરાવે છે જ્યારે તમે ગીત ના શબ્દો ભુલી જાઓ છો.
તમે યોગી ન થઇ શકો તો નો પ્રોબ્લેમ પણ બધાને ઉપ-યોગી જરૂર થાજો !!
દીકરો એટલે સુખડનો ટુકડો ,દીકરી એટલે કસ્તુરી .
બન્નેને બરાબર સાચવી શકો તો એ બન્ને જાતે ઘસાઇને સુવાસ ફેલાવે !!
આખી જીંદગી આંકડા તમે માંડો અને છેલ્લે સરવાળો કોઈ બીજું જ કરી જાય એનું નામ નસીબ !
